Ember Beeler, an alum of the University of Texas where they majored in History and Government and now pursuing a Master’s in Architecture, founded The Newburgh Project, an initiative to virtually reconstruct the city of Newburgh, NY, as it stood before the Urban Renewal era of the 1960s and 1970s, which demolished more than 1,300 buildings and displaced over 800 families. Built in Minecraft, the digital model offers an accessible and interactive platform for audiences worldwide. Through a new collaboration with Newburgh Creates, the project is being brought directly to the public, engaging students, residents, and visitors in exploring Newburgh’s past and reimagining its future.

This program is co-sponsored by The Fullerton and Urban Archive, and is presented as part of @Archtober, New York City’s annual architecture and design festival.
