Lander Street, once a block that was emblematic of the vacant and abandoned housing crisis in Newburgh, has been completely transformed largely thanks to the Newburgh Community Land Bank. Striving for affordable homeownership, Landbank will share the history and strategy for stabilizing the block with restoration and infill development projects. Additionally, the Land Bank's partner, RUPCO will share its work on the block and its newest program "Newburgh Targeted Home Improvement Program (T-HIP)" with grants up to $40,000 to perform repairs in 12550 as way of focusing on preserving our architectural heritage while supporting homeowners.
This walking tour will provide insight on an organization's development strategy, importance of critical mass of investment, overcoming unexpected challenges, securing partnerships, and supplementing with useful legacy programs into the preserving the fabric of our community.
This event is co-hosted by Archtober Newburgh in partnership with Newburgh Community Land Bank, RUPCO and The Fullerton.
