Downtown District Alliance
Since 2023, the Downtown District Alliance has served as a collaborative network of small business owners and community leaders dedicated to revitalizing and promoting the heart of Newburgh’s commercial district. Meeting monthly, the group has developed and implemented a variety of initiatives designed to support downtown businesses, strengthen community ties, and enhance the area’s cultural and economic vitality.
To date, signature projects include a discount program in partnership with Mount Saint Mary College and SUNY Orange to encourage student engagement with local shops and services; the creation of vibrant public art such as the Downtown District Mural and the Welcome to Newburgh Mural; and a growing roster of seasonal events like Mardi Gras, Frost Fest, and the Summer Block Party that attract residents and visitors alike.
The next major initiative is a wayfinding project, sponsored by Orange County Tourism and developed in collaboration with the City of Newburgh. Signage is designed and produced Murmuration, helping visitors better navigate downtown. The Fullerton has designed the Downtown Directory which is a way for residents and visitors to discover all the amenities that the downtown provides..
Beyond programming, the Downtown District Alliance also serves as a collective voice advocating for key improvements such as increased sanitation services, greater budget allocation for small business support, and enhancements to transportation infrastructure.
At its core, the Downtown District is a supportive network of entrepreneurs and community stakeholders who believe in the potential of downtown Newburgh and work together to welcome and build a thriving, inclusive, and resilient business community.
