Archtober Newburgh is an annual festival of 25+ free events that celebrates the city's rich architectural heritage, connects people to resources and promotes local initiatives in the community.
The festival, presented by The Fullerton in partnership with AIA Westchester Hudson Valley and part of @Archtober, NYC's annual architecture and design festival, engages our local community and draws regional visitors to learn more about their built environment.
A GLIMPSE AT THIS YEAR’S FESTIVAL FUN
🔨 Rehab Workshops: Learn to secure Historic Tax Credits, navigate the Architectural Review Commission process, and gain hands-on skills to restore your historic building.
🌇 Walking Tours: Uncover the dynamic history and rich architectural details of several corridors in Newburgh, led by architectural historians, pro-housing organizations, and even our local youth.
🎨 Family Programming: Minecraft, Lego Printmaking, Cardboard City and more! We’ve expanded our family programs so there will be fun for all ages.
📚 Books: Attention all book worms! There are so many great books on urbanism so we are launching a book club AND new book drive focused on inspiring design thinking.
🟩 Green Patriots: Peruse the Green Patriots poster exhibit that inspires us to build a sustainable economy. Buy a souvenir poster produced by Newburgh Free Academy West students that speak to the climate issues we now face in our city.
💒 Dutch Reformed Church: Some know the history of the Dutch Reformed Church on Grand Street but many just know it as the beautiful building that is precipitously deteriorating. Learn the history and future of that architectural gem designed by Alexander Jackson Davis with a panel of Newburgh natives, historians, and placemakers.
