Since 2018, Awesome Newburgh has supported more than 110 creative ideas that benefit the city, typically with $1,000 grants. The celebration will bring together past grantees, neighbors and community leaders to see what those grants have helped make possible. Representatives of 11 funded projects will share brief updates. The evening will also include a slideshow of past projects, a spoken word performance by Awesome Newburgh trustee Mariah Henry, and the award of a $1,000 grant to a past grantee represented at the event.
Projects featured during the evening include Consider Me, Chess Kids Pop Up Park, Newburgh Repair Café, Newburgh Porchfest, Newburgh Night Lights, the GAMS school garden shed, The World of Thomas B. Pope exhibit, Old Town Cemetery Wildflower Walkway, the WaterWorks! Procession, NFA North Courtyard Beautification and Tri One.
“The best ideas for Newburgh often come from the people who live and work here. Our trustees are proud to help neighbors turn those ideas into projects that bring people together and make a difference across the city. This night is a chance to celebrate everyone who made these awesome projects happen.” — Janet Rossbach, Co-Dean, Awesome Newburgh Foundation
Donations can also be made to support Awesome Newburgh’s 2027 grant-making by contributing via Awesome Newburgh’s fiscal sponsor, the Fullerton at https://www.thefullerton.org/donate. Please note in the comments that the gift should be directed to Awesome Newburgh.
